It’s a scene that is difficult to imagine, but sadly all too common. A box left on the side of the road, containing an abandoned dog. For this poor pup, the box is both a prison and a refuge, as he tries to survive on his own, suffering from a severe infestation of parasites and worms.

The situation is heartbreaking. The dog is visibly malnourished and weak, with dull, lifeless eyes that show just how much pain he is in. His fur is matted and dirty, with patches missing in places where he has scratched himself raw in an attempt to relieve the constant itching.

As he walks along the street, he is largely ignored by passersby. Some people cross the road to avoid him, while others simply step over him as they hurry by. No one stops to offer help, even though the dog is clearly in distress.

The sad truth is that dogs like this one are all too common. Left to fend for themselves on the streets, they are at constant risk of illness and injury. For this dog, the infestation of parasites and worms is just the latest in a long line of hardships.
